Job Description:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating the safety of the company and make sure it is hazard-free; ensure compliance with OSHA, DEQ, and DOT; track DART and TRIR, incident investigations, reporting, corrective actions. Acts as a safety resource, guide, and partner.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily pre-shift safety meetings. Safety inspections and recommends corrective measures. Conduct incident investigations to determine root-cause and proposes preventive measures. Instruct employees on safety procedure and practices to follow. Perform inspections on machinery and equipment to ensure that they are in good working order and safe to operate. Recommend changes to processes and/or procedures to improve safety. Conduct safety audits and advises the appropriate corrective actions. Evaluate and recommend enforcement recommendations in accordance with OSHA standards and other regulatory agency regulations. Conduct training on scheduled safety topics and annual requirements. Other duties as assigned/directed by management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in safety or other applicable field or 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a safety focus. Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing safety. Knowledge of OSHA, DEQ, DOT, and other regulatory requirements and application.

SKILLS: High level of customer service skills. Competence in Microsoft office, with strong emphasis in Microsoft Excel. Ability to work a team and make recommendations. Self-motivated and able to drive collaborative success with limited guidance. Ability to be an analytical thinker with excellent attention to details. Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills. Performs other related duties as assigned.
